ماریلین اسکاربک

Marilyn Skarbek joined the faculty of North Central College in 2012 and serves as an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, the Exercise Science Clinical Coordinator, and the faculty advisor for the Health and Exercise Association (HEXA) student organization. She has a M.S. in Exercise Physiology with a specialization in Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiovascular Health and a B.S. in Nutrition from Benedictine University. Her graduate research focused on the development of a max VO2 protocol using a commercial stepper. She is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS). Marilyn has practiced as an Exercise Physiologist in various settings including hospitals, hospital-based fitness centers, and corporate fitness centers. She has worked with a variety of clients and patients ranging from the general population to cardiac patients to athletes. Marilyn has experience in fitness assessment (cardiorespiratory, balance, strength, and flexibility testing), program development, and business ownership and management. She has over 20 years of experience in figure skating, both as a competitor and a coach. She has an interest in case study directed learning and recently published a physiology of exercise text incorporating the use of case studies.
